TRAINING SESSION FOR TAMIL LANGUAGE CONDUCTED BY THE ALL CELON BUDDHIST CONGRESS

 
 

National Education Board of the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress, at Baudhdhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7 has launched a Tamil Language training programme for the Buddhist Monks as per instructions given by the  Hon. President Mr. Jagath Sumathipala, at the Ariyapala Hall of the ACBC premises.

The training course will be conducted every Thursday and Friday from 9.30 am to 11.00 a.m for a period of six months.  At the end of the training a Certificate will be awarded to the participants.

At the commencement of the training  Programme, Ven  Nagoda Amarawanse Thero makes aware the importance of this programme for Bhikkus who attended the Meeting.  Also in the picture are Ven. Uyangalle Gnanaratana Thero, President of the ACBC Mr. Jagath Sumathipala, Deputy President Dr. Praneeth Abeyasundara and Dr (Mrs) Rani Fernando,  the President of the National  Education Board

Child Development Center.

Donations given to All Ceylon Buddhist Congress Gangodawilla Balika Child Development Center by  Rev. Diviyagaha Yasassi Nayake Thero.

Annual General Meeting of the

   The Annual General Meeting of the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress Granvil Wickramaratna Child Development Ceneter was held recently at Biyagama. The Function started with lighting the Oil Lamp by the Hon. President of ACBC Mr. Jagath Sumathipala, Mr. Sarath Kuragama Hon. Chairman ACBC Child Care Council, Mrs. Leela Wickramaratna Chair Person and Mr. E.K. Gamage, a council Member of the Child Development Center also present at this occation. The Dance performed by the Childeren of the Center

 

 

Buddhist Flag Week 2010
BUDDHIST FLAG WEEK was held on 22nd TO 28th APRIL 2010.

The Buddhist Flag was affirmed and ceremonially hoisted for the first time on 28th of April 1885 on a Wesak Full Moon Day, by Ven. Migettuwatte Gunananda Nayake Thera at Deepaduththaramaya Temple in Kotahena, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
This flag was introduced to Myanmar and Japan in 1889 by Anagarika Dharmapala and Colonel Henry Steele Olcott from Sri Lanka.
Late Dr. G. P. Malalasekara adopted a resolution and passed at the inaugural sessions of World Federation of Buddhists held in Kandy on 20th May 1950 conveying this Buddhist Flag to be accepted as the Official Buddhist Flag by all the Buddhists in the World during its sessions of the WFB.

The ACBC Ceremonially conducted the Buddhist Flag Week during this year and these are the special sigenificances.


   
   
   
   

 

Keebiela Sanctity Bhikkhu Rest Home

The Foundation stone was laid to a Kitchen of Keebiela Sanctity Bhikkhu Rest Home on 17th January 2010 by Mr. Jagath Sumathipala President of ACBC. Dr. Rani Fernando, Vice President of ACBC and Mr. Chandara Nimal Wakishta, Vice President of ACBC also attend the function. At present 19 Bhikkhus are residing at this sanctity Bhikkhu rest home. The Kitchen of the Bhikkhu rest home was heavily borken and it is nessary to attend to made the construction work of a new kitchen.

It is estimated that Rs. 4.5 Million is needed to complete the construction of a new kitchen. Therefore ACBC kindly request to the philanthropists to send their donations to ACBC for this religious gesture.

Malabe Home for the Senior Citizens


The Foundation stone was laid on 18th January 2010 by Mr. Jagath Sumathipala President of ACBC for the Construction of a New Building which comprises more than 10 rooms to the Home for the Senior Citizens of Malabe. The estimated expenditure to complete the construction will be more than Rs.5 million.

Funding for this contruction will be made by Mrs. Seela Natha Kuruppu Chairperson of Gihans Tex Enterprises Private Limited. along with her sons and daughters of thier family.
