Commission on Prevention of Unethical conversion was appointed by the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress on dated 17th March 2009 The Commission presided over by Mr. Sarath Gunathilaka a Retired High court Judge meets every Wednesday of the week. So far a fair number of complaints on attempts in unethical conversions and church planting and murmurs activities detrimental to Buddha Sasana and interests of the Buddhist community have been received by in writing as well as by other mean of communications. The Commission scrutinizes and discussed in details the content of the complaints and dispense advice on actions to be adopted. Where necessary the Commission has pursued accretive action with relevant higher authorities. Court cases that are before the Supreme court and lower courts in Colombo, Halpita, Hanwella, Radawana, PolgasOwita are been represented by competent lawyers on a warranty basis. Some court cases are pending purely because advice sort from the Attornry General Department by the police have been overly delayed. This commission was appointed subsequence to the startling regulations mad by the witnesses and the corrective action recommended by the witnesses before the Commission Report published on 09th January 2009. |
